To design and build a catapult that is able to launch the “projectile”

The catapult project involves designing and constructing a device capable of launching a projectile using mechanical principles. It requires careful consideration of components such as a sturdy frame, lever mechanism, and launching basket, with material choices and safety measures playing crucial roles. 

COEFFICIENTS OF FRICTION BETWEEN 2 SURFACES

Calculate coefficient of static & kinetic friction

The project involves determining the coefficient of static and kinetic friction for a given surface-material combination. I set up an inclined plane and attach a block or object to a pulley system. By gradually increasing the incline until the object begins to slide (static friction), and then measuring its constant velocity on a horizontal surface (kinetic friction), I can calculate the coefficients.

How might we help pedestrians to be more alert when using shared paths?

The project aims to enhance pedestrian safety on shared paths by implementing a notification system. During the morning hours, a buzzer alert will be activated to notify pedestrians of the presence of riders on the shared path, ensuring increased awareness and minimizing potential collisions. In the evening or low-light conditions, an LED system will be employed to provide visual cues, enhancing visibility and alerting pedestrians to the approaching riders. This dual-alert mechanism caters to both auditory and visual senses, creating a comprehensive safety solution for shared pathways, promoting a harmonious coexistence between pedestrians and riders.

What can we do to monitor the amount of moisture in the soil, to ensure the best growth of crops?​

A system with the ability to detect how much water is in the soil​ and provide the required amount of water is proposed. LED and rotating motors will be turn on when the soil is too dry. When the soil is sensed to be over the moisture limit, the rotating motors will stop, LED will be turned off. The system is also able to store the collected data over a long period of time in the Ubidots IoT platform.

Creating Databases

A content management system (CMS) called WordPress enables you to host and create websites. WordPress has a template system and a plugin architecture that allow us to customize any website to meet your company, blog, portfolio, or online store. It is a PHP-based open-source, free content management system that works with either a MySQL or MariaDB database with HTTPS. A template system called Themes in WordPress and a plugin architecture are among the features therein.

AI SAFE CYCLING DETECTION

To detect the cyclist's acceleration for the purpose of triggering signals and displaying information. 

The AI Safe Cycling Detector is an innovative system designed to enhance cyclist safety by monitoring acceleration and providing real-time feedback. Using advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, the detector assesses the cyclist's acceleration, triggering signals and displaying pertinent information on an OLED screen. If the cyclist is exceeding a safe speed, the OLED display signals a warning, prompting the rider to decelerate for safety. Conversely, when maintaining a safe speed, the display indicates optimal conditions, reinforcing positive cycling habits. 

PREVENTIVE MAINTANENCE

To promote preventative maintenance in IoT and AI technologies

The goal of this research is to replicate fan preventative maintenance in an urban agricultural context. The accelerometer will be utilized to determine the frequency content of the fan vibration. The collected data will be subjected to machine learning, which will train a neural network to categorize various fan conditions such as off, low speed, medium speed, high speed, and high speed with obstructed fan. Accuracy and loss will be created, and the neural network model may be deployed onto the ESP32.

Creating Mobile Application

Creating a mobile application, giving information on Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This application shows the details of each schools and users are able to view the school map and also to estimate the duration from their current location to their final destination. Additionally, they are also able to provide feedback which I will receive the feedback form through my telegram.

Through this hands-on project, individuals gain practical experience in setting up IP addresses, configuring routing protocols, and establishing communication between devices. Key concepts such as subnetting, VLAN configuration, and basic troubleshooting will be covered. This project serves as an introductory exploration into networking principles, providing a foundation for understanding the structure and functionality of computer networks using a virtual environment for experimentation and learning.

To determine the optimal parameter design setting for the helicopter that leads to the longest flight time 

The primary objectives are to establish a robust and scalable network infrastructure that ensures seamless connectivity and upholds network security within the Local Area Network (LAN). The implementation includes configuring routers, switches, and access points to support both wired and wireless devices. Security measures such as Virtual LANs (VLANs), encryption protocols for wireless communication, and access control policies will be integrated to safeguard the network.

Creating Databases

This hands-on endeavor focuses specifically on the implementation of the OSPF routing protocol, emphasizing its role in dynamic routing and efficient path determination. I got to work on routers, switches, and network segments, creating OSPF areas, configuring routers for information exchange, and optimizing OSPF parameters. The project encompasses broader considerations, including network expansion strategies, subnetting for efficient address management, VLAN implementation for segmentation, WAN connectivity for remote offices, high availability configurations, and the integration of security measures.

How might we better support low-income households in our society?

It involves formulating a concise problem statement followed by interviews with stakeholders to identify common issues. Participants leverage insights gathered to refine the problem statement and collaboratively devise innovative solutions. The project concludes with the creation of mock-ups or prototypes, providing tangible representations of proposed solutions. This project emphasizes user-centric design and iterative development for effective problem-solving.

Discovering world issues on fast fashion

This project focuses on exploring the worldwide consequences where my group did on fast fashion. We investigated environmental, social, and economic issues, considering factors such as resource depletion and labor exploitation. The project aims to raise awareness through research, data analysis, and potential interviews with industry experts. Findings will be compiled into a report, encouraging critical thinking about ethical considerations and promoting sustainable alternatives within the fashion industry.

How might we help people who are sturggling with time management and stress for a better mental wellbeing?

This project involves creating a mobile app to help individuals struggling with time management and stress. The app offers resources on stress management and mindfulness, along with a user-friendly planner for effective time organization. Through user testing and feedback, the project aims to empower users with practical tools to enhance their mental wellbeing and achieve a better work-life balance.
